WELCOME TO SOCIAL STUDIES
10/27/09
I am still seeing the Geography book in class. It can stay home! It will be used at home for homework assignments, including the weekly Geography questions.
We have begun our investigation of prehistory starting with Otzi, the Iceman.
I have added links to the link page if you would like to do further reading.
It is very interesting!
10/19/09
We have finished our study of the five themes of geography. However, we will continue to refer back to the themes and work with maps throughout the year.
We will begin studying Archeology/Prehistory using our Ancient Civilization Books. Wednesday our large blue Geography book will go home and stay at home to complete homework. There will also be reading assignments assigned out of the book in the future.
The Social Studies classes are studying the Five Themes of Geography. We have already covered the theme of Location and we are working on Place. The students have started a research project on a country of their choice.
10/6/09
The students have completed studying 4 themes of Geography. The first quiz on the four themes was last Thursday. They will receive their corrected quiz this Thursday after testing. Remember this was a quiz to see where the students are with their knowledge. I now know what needs to be reviewed or retaught before the unit test.
We have "moved" on to our last theme of Movement.
