In science today we planted 130 Red Emperor Tulip Bulbs as part of an international investigation in search of SPRING.  I wanted to share some pictures of today's planting....PLEASE see "Tulip Investigation Planting Photos" to the left.<BR>

<DIV>As part of a global science investigation we will be planting 400 red tulip bulbs by the end of this week out front of the Woodbury.  Please check the website for photos of students "doing science".</DIV>

    <LI>Tuesday, November 3 - Grades Close</LI>
    <LI>Friday, November 6 - Veteran's Day Program - Student's are asked to wear RED, WHITE. and BLUE.</LI>
    <LI>Tuesday, November 10 - Report Cards Distributed</LI>
    <LI>Wednesday, November 11 - No School - Veteran's Day</LI>
    <LI>Thursday, November 12 - Parent / Teacher Conference Day - No school for students.</LI>
    <LI>Thursday, November 26, 27 - Thanksgiving Recess - No School </LI>

If you signed up for a conference your child should have given you a notice with the time of your meeting.  We ask that parents arrive promptly which ensures a smooth running day for all involved.</DIV>

<DIV>We would like to start this NEWSFLASH by thanking all parents for attending open house.  We were impressed with the turnout and look forward to a great year!</DIV>

<DIV><U style="FONT-SIZE: 18pt">We wanted to share the following important dates for the month of October:</U></DIV>

<DIV><STRONG style="COLOR: red">October 5-7</STRONG> will be school-wide NECAP Testing.  A few things to keep in mind:</DIV>
<UL>
    <LI>During this week student's assignment load will be reduced.  That includes limited homework. </LI>
    <LI>It is our hope that students will use this extra energy to focus on the school day tests.</LI>
    <LI>Please encourage students to eat a well balanced breakfast which we hope will enhance their focus.</LI>
    <LI>Attempt to have students to school on time and limit dismissals for the next 3 days.</LI>
    <LI>We thank you in advance. </LI>

<DIV><SPAN style="COLOR: red"><STRONG>October 9</STRONG></SPAN> distribution of 1st Quarter Progress Reports.  A few comments:<BR>

    <LI>Progress Reports need to signed and returned ASAP.  Usually within 3 days.</LI>
    <LI>This is the 1/2 way point of the quarter. </LI>
    <LI>Parents can contact teachers by email or phone with comments.  Also feel free to write comments on progress report being returned.</LI>

    <LI>All dances are chaperoned by Administrators and Teachers.</LI>
    <LI>Grade 6 Dances are <U><STRONG>ONLY</STRONG></U> for <STRONG><U>6th graders</U></STRONG>.</LI>
    <LI>Students cannot leave the dance until 8:30 PM unless prior permission is approved by an administrator.</LI>
    <LI>A limited snack bar is open throughout the dance. (drinks, candy, etc)</LI>
    <LI>Questions can be directed to Assistant Principal George Murray. </LI>

<DIV>Welcome to the Woodbury School and Team Wolves.  Thank you for subscribing to our NEWSLFASH, a communication tool exclusively available to Team Wolves Parents to increase communication about team and school happenings.</DIV>

<DIV>We are excited to meet all parents at Open House on September 22.  A notice from the office with more information on Open House should come home with students no later than Tuesday of next week.  If you do not receive the notice please ask your child to speak with their advisor.</DIV>

<DIV>All students were given an "Assignment Notebook" with the expectation that it will be used to record their daily homework assignments.  Students are required to bring their Assignment Notebook with them to each class.  This has proven to be a great organizational tool for all students and is a great way for parents to check-in with their child.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>During advisory today students were given information on Student Council.  Any student interested in joining Student Council can pick up an informational packet at the school store.  If you or your child have any further questions on Student Council please speak with Mrs. McDonough who is the Student Council Advisor.</DIV>

<DIV>We appreciate all your signatures and attention to all the paperwork that needs to be sent home at the start of each school year.  Homework has started and students are working hard and we appreciate your involvement.  Please stay tuned for our next NEWSFLASH in approximately two weeks.</DIV>
