Will you administer Tylenol to my child during the school day?
Tylenol will be given to your child if you provide the medicine to school in it's oringinal container and sign parental permission for over the counter medicine. There are students that will only take liquid, chewable, tablets, and certain flavors such as grape, cherry or orange.Back to Top
Is it all right for my child to transport medication to school?
The Allenstown School policy is that an adult needs to bring medicine to school to prevent other students from taking it or misplacing it. The only exception is for inhalers and epinephrine but only if a doctor and parent has signed a form determining they are capable of doing such.Back to Top
Can I bring homemade baked goods for a classroom party ?
It is important to check with your student's teacher regarding food allergies. When you recieve a allergy letter for the classroom that would be mailed home to you then baked goods would not be allowed. Alternatives for celebrating could be ice cream cups with the ingredients listed. Any item that states processed with other nut products is not acceptable. Food allergies are a life threatening situation and it is taken seriously. Please check with your classroom teacher or the nurse before bringing in food. Can my child attend school with live head lice?
If a child has lice they need to go home and be treated with over the counter product such as Rid or Nix. Once they have done the treatment all nits need to be combed out of there hair to prevent reinfestation. Members of your family also should be checked for head lice. Head lice is spread from head to head contact, wearing another persons hat, sharing combs, sleep overs at another persons house. Treatment also includes washing all bedding, thoroughly vacumning the house, washing hats that have been worn and sterilizing combs and brushes. An infected student needs to be seen by the school nurse before reentering school. When a student is found to have head lice the rest of the classroom will be checked by the school nurse. Parents will only be notified if their individual child has head lice. It is important for parents to check their own children periodically for head lice. If you see your child scratching or itching their hair alot you should check them. Head lice can be found around the ears and back of the head close to the base of the hair follicle. They can spread further onto the hair shaft too. If you suspect your child has head lice do not hesitate to contact the school for assistance. Please report all cases to the school nurse to prevent further infestation.Back to Top
