Homework

Grade 5: Mrs. Dill
Resource Room

All Homework assignments will be written in their agenda which I will sign
daily. Please check the agenda daily.

ILA:

Students should read for 20 minutes every night and record your thinking on
post-it notes and list the book on your reading log. The reading log should
be signed by a parent once the log is filled completely.

Reader's Notebook: Due weekly every Thursday! Starting 9/24/09 Students
should write a letter to me once a week. The topics are their choice of any
of the reading strategies: connections, predictions, reactions, summarizing,
visualizing, and questioning, unless I specify a different topic.

Post-It Sheets: Handed in once per quater. Students must record their
thinking as they are reading on post-its using the 6 strategies. After each
book is read, students will collect their post-its and organize them
according to their strategies in the appropriate columns. After each
finished book students must have one post -it for each column. Please
indicate when you finish a book by drawing a line or starting a new page.

Writers Notebook: This will be completed in class unless a student doesn't
finish the work. In this case it will become Homework.

Words Their Way:
Monday: Choose 5 words and define and write the part of speech for each.
Tuesday: Use Monday's words and put each word in a well-written sentence.
Wednesday: Study words for Friday's quiz.
Thursday: Study Word Wall Words and Words Their Way words for Friday's quiz.
Friday: Spelling Quizzes starting 9/25/09. Students will be completing
weekly work in their Word Work Notebook.

Math:

Students will be completing Study Links. These are in their Study Link Math
Journal. This journal is kept in school. Students will detach the proper
Study Link that accompanies the lesson taught in class. Also in the Study
Link book there are parent letters enclosed. Please read these letters they
explain the subject matter of upcoming lessons.

For every math test I will provide the students with a study guide which
needs to be completed. After it is graded the student can utilize this to
study from along with their completed study links until it is time to take
the test.
