For the past seven years, I have held the position of Reading Specialist here
at Bowne-Munro School, and previously taught fourth grade in Connecticut for
nine years. I also spent nine years as a financial analyst for a computer
company and it was during that time that I realized I also have a passion for
math. Once I began my family, I chose a different path and opened my own
business. It was there that I could combine my business sense, math interest
and interpersonal skills to run a successful business. While I owned the
business, I re-entered the world of teaching as a home instructor. It was
while working as a home instructor that I knew I would soon return to the
classroom. I’m glad I did.
Last June, Mrs. Payette's good fortune became a blessing for me! I realized
that third grade would be the perfect position for me. I was thrilled when
Mrs. Boley agreed and I've spent most of the summer preparing for my first
day as a third grade teacher. I am especially proud of my classroom library,
which contains thousands of wonderful books. I can't wait to work with my
class.
My mission is to prepare students to embrace learning and to help them
acquire the skills to become successful students, accomplished adults and
positive contributors to our society. I will encourage my students to
challenge themselves as they progress this year as learners. Lastly, I look
forward to a positive classroom community full of kindness and support for
everyone
