How do I contact my child's teacher?
You have several choices. First, you could call the school at 732-613-6810
and leave a message. Second, you could use my email address,
jmariani@ebnet.org and thirdly, you could write a note in your child's
assignment pad and have them show me at the beginning of class.

What happens if I do not have my homework?
For ILA, if you hand in your Writer's Notebook late, your grade drops one
letter grade.
For Social Studies, each assignment is worth 10 points. I accept late
assignments, but take a point off for each day late. Every ten assignments
equals a quiz grade.

How long should homework take?
For ILA, students should be reading about twenty minutes each night and
spend at least two to three nights writing for their Writer's Notebook.
Each student has an assigned day for his/her Writer's Notebook.
For Social Studies, students usually receive assignments 2 - 3 nights a
week, and the assignments may take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes for
written assignments. Quizzes and tests are announced a week in advance so
they may spend a bit longer preparing for these. Students usually receive
packets for each unit and should use those to review and study.

Should my child read each night?
For ILA, students are always encouraged to read daily. Independent reading
is a very large portion of our ILA curriculum. Students will receive
marking period reading projects based on their independent reading books, so
having students read at home definitely prepares them for these assignments.
