Unit 2: Using Numbers and Organizing Data

  

Please read the parent letter in Study Links page 19 and vocabulay page 20 to familiarize yourself with Unit 2.

The following are the mastery concepts for Unit 2 .

Add multi-digit numbers using any method.

Subtract multi-digit numbers using any method.

Identify the landmarks of data.

The landmarks for a set of data are used to describe the data.

  • Maximum: the largest value.
  • Minimum: the smallest value.
  • Range: difference between the maximum and minimum.
  • (maximum- minimum = range)
  • Median: middle of the set
  • Mode: The most frequent number found.

Use a tally chart to create a bar graph.

Read and write numbers to the hundred-thousands place.

Describe and classify polygons.

Students receive a study guide about one week before the unit assessment. The guide lists Journal pages, Study Link pages and reference book pages to help prepare. Please sign the guide and return it to Ms. Feddish or Mrs. Stapleton on the day of the assessment.
