November 2009 Highlights

  • The PTA raised $335.00 from collecting Box Tops for Education. Please keep saving your Box Tops. Our next submission will be in February 2010. A special thank you to Laurie Roth, the chair of this committee and to all those who participated.

  • A special thank you for the wonderful parents who volunteered to help hand out snacks and juice to the students that received the H1N1 Flu Vaccination.

  • The Gamin’ Ride on November 13th was once again a fun filled night of entertainment. We had over 100 students in attendance, dancing the night away with Dance Dance Revolution and playing varies Video Games.

  • The PTA would like to thank all of the families that participated in the Wendy's Fundraiser and Jennifer Huston for all of her work organizing it. Thanks to all of you we were able to raise $217.43 in just 3 hours!

  • We would like to thank all the 4th and 5th grade students and the wonderful parents for helping to make our first 4th and 5th grade Social a huge success.  All the students had a fantastic time spending time dancing and playing games with DJ Butch.  A big thank you goes to Butch Seltzer for donating his services as the DJ for the night.  We were able to raise about $350 after expenses!

  • The teachers enjoyed a tasty early start to their Thanksgiving with fresh baked goods on Wednesday at the Thanksgiving Teacher Breakfast courtesy of the PTA.

  • Our new Bowne-Munro Spiritwear arrived on November 12th.   The students and staff could hardly wait to receive their orders.  Everyone was pleased with the new selections; especially the tied dyed shirt, baseball shirt and sweatpants!

  • For most of us, Thanksgiving is a time to come together with loved ones, feast on scrumptious food and contemplate all we have to be thankful for. This year, I am particularly thankful for the opportunity to be here at Bowne-Munro School with your children. This is truly a wonderful place to learn and grow for both the children and adults alike! As always, please feel free to get in touch with me regarding any
concerns, questions, or thoughts you may have about your child's education. I can be reached at jboley@ebnet.org or by phone at (732)613-6810.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  • We are very excited to begin working on our new Drama Club production,
“The Best Little Theater in Town.” We have had a fantastic turn out for our Drama club again this year. Auditions are now taking place and we are overwhelmed with all the talent and enthusiasm from the students who have been performing. Thanks to all the people who are auditioning
for your hard work and effort. It takes a lot of courage to audition and we are both very proud of you.
Students in third grade are very excited about starting recorder lessons this year. The recorder order has been placed and I expect them to arrive soon. When we start playing recorders, students will be responsible for bringing them home and practicing. It is very important to be responsible with the recorders and remember to bring them back to school on music days. I can not wait to hear our third graders play!
