Ongoing ProgramsPeer MediationTeachers at Bowne-Munro are committed to keeping our school bully-free. We teach students how to resolve differences in a peaceful manner using the Win! Win! Guidelines. Over the past few years, fourth and fifth grade students have been trained on an ongoing basis to act as peer mediators. Mediation is an ongoing process of resolving conflicts with the help of a neutral third party who facilitates discussion. Mediation is a nonjudgmental process that allows children to work out their differences constructively. The peer mediators were chosen by student survey. They work hard to prepare for this important role in the school. Peer Mediation is available to students who are having a conflict. Children may request a mediation session or teachers may refer a dispute to mediation. Peer Mediators will also be going outside during recess when the weather cooperates, to help students resolve their conflicts. Encourage your child to ask for mediation if he/she is having trouble with another student. We know this program will enhance the children understanding of how conflicts can be solved peacefully. National Honor Society Tutors Available for Children in Grades K-5 Parents if you are interested, please call the high school guidance department at 732-613-6941 or 732-613-6942.
