Congratulations! You are now a third grader. This is a very exciting time and I am sure that this will be a wonderful year for you. Third grade is a big transition from second grade. You should expect that you will be taking on more responsibilities and that you will be doing things more independently. You may be thinking, "Oh no!! More responsibility only means more work!" Don't panic! Getting older and becoming more responsible is fun! Yes, you might experience more work in third grade than second grade, but you will also be doing a lot of learning on your own. I will show you what this means throughout the school year. You should expect to be learning multiplication this year. Mastering all of your math facts is important for a third grader. In science, you will be doing tons of fun and exciting experiments! I have not met one third grader who does not LOVE science!! In social studies you will receive your own text book and we will be looking at many websites and other books in order to learn. We will also learn a lot about our town-we even go on a bus tour! This year you will probably be using computers much more frequently. Third graders also love learning how to write in cursive! This year you should expect that you will be taking the NJ ASK test in March. This is a three-day test that all 3rd graders in the state will be taking. You should not feel worried or stressed about this test. Everything you learn in third grade will help you, and of course, I am always here to help! Most of all, you should expect that third grade will be FUN!!! I am here to help you at every step of your third grade year. Let's have a fantastic year together!
