Each day your child should receive homework in most subject areas. Please be
sure to check their agenda each day.
Writers Workshop.
Your child we be asked to write in their writer's notebook Mon-Thursday every
week. They will be asked to write for a minimum of 10 min each night. This
should allow them to fill about half a page. Students Writers notebook should
follow the format that is modeled in the front of their notebook.
Students notebook will be collected every two weeks. Your child will have a
schedule attached in the front of their Notebook. They will be assessed using
the rubric that is attached to the back of their writers notebook.
Please remind your child that they can draw on many experiences in their
lives, from an important person, place, thing or event.
Readers Workshop
Your child will be asked to read for 20 min each night. They will be asked to
log their reading in their reading log and have this signed by their parents.
Students can read from a variety of texts from Chapter books, newspapers,
magazines and even interesting picture books etc.
Students may receive individual reading responses on an as needed basis.
