NewsFlash

My website has been updated as of Friday, 6/20/08.

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching all my students this year. I wish everyone a happy and
healthy summer.
Even though it is summer, I encourage my students to check out the links on my Links page and
the writing prompts on my Photos/Docs page and continue to practice their skills.

There is a new enrichment website that I want to share with you. I have seen it demoed at
several workshops for Gifted Students and I have found it very helpful as a teacher. The
website differentiates each student based on skill set and interest level. Through this
differentiation the website can challenge and motivate the student to learn.
http://www.renzullilearning.com/default.aspx - The individuals who have put this website
together have a tremendous amount of experience in Gifted education. Try the tutorial for the
website and let me know what you think. My understanding is individual students can join
for a small membership fee.

5th Grade Verbal students collected approximately $1,200 to provide, medical supplies, food and
clothing to the people of Darfur. Great work and thanks to everyone who supported this project.

Many of you have asked me for advice on writing. I have added several writing prompts to my
Photos/Doc page. In addition, Enchanted Learning is a great website for writing prompts and is
a link on my Links Page.

In addition to StudyIsland, I have lots of fun websites loaded on my Links page. Please
encourage your child to use websites that will challenge them.

I have added a link on the "Links" page for the New Jersey Association for
Gifted Children. Their Web site is http://www.njagc.org/index.php. This is an excellent place
for parents to begin learning more about gifted children, and what resources are available
for them. I encourage you to take a look at this resource.

Just a reminder to my students, if you would like to enter your writing in a
contest go to http://www.potluckmagazine.org/ or https://www.writersdigest.com/contests/
(both are on my Links page) for more details.

For you and your parents, I recommend that you take a look at the article
that I have posted on the Photos/Docs page called "Raising stock-savvy kids". It outlines some
things that parents can do to interest their children in the financial world.

For students who may love fairy tales, there are some excellent activities
at http://www-ma.beth.k12.pa.us/jhoke/jhwebquest/jhwebquest.htm.
