***ATTENTION*** The NJ health commissioner approved amendments to the state's immunization laws for children. Starting this fall, all children attending pre-school will be required to have 1 dose of a pneumococcal vaccine given anytime after their first birthday and an anuual flu shot given between September 1 and December 31 each year, until they are 6 years old. Students entering grade 6 are required to have a pertussis and tetanus booster and 1 dose of the meningococcal vaccine. Please schedule a physical with your pediatrician soon. Your child CAN NOT enter school until their vaccination requirements are met! Immunizations for all students need to be up to date before they enter school. If your child has had any immunizations during their last physical, please share the dates with me so that your child's health record at school remains up to date. Physicals for all new students are due 30 days after your registration date. Families that do not have any medical insurance may be eligible for NJ Family Care. Call their local office at 732-247-2968 and ask for Nancy. The office is located at 303 George St. in New Brunswick. Please make sure your emergency contact information is complete and accurate! Please make sure you have a reliable, local contact listed in case you cannot be reached! This is especially important so that you can receive important information regarding our schools via global connect. If your child was hospitalized, suffered an injury which required emergency room attention, or was severely ill over the summer, please inform the school nurse. It is important to keep your child's school medical record current, accurate and up to date. If you have discovered that your child is severely allergic to a food or substance over the summer, please inform the school nurse so that we can provide a safe environment for your child and care for them accordingly.
