Family Life Recommended Books

"The Care and Keeping of You A Body Book for Girls" from the American Girl
Library, is a wonderful guide for girls full of pertinent, practical advice
that doesn't exploit the issue of adolescence. It presents in an easy to
read form with appealing graphics. It covers everything from how to take
care of your hair, to fitness and nutrition, to selecting a bra, to dental
hygiene, basically everything a young lady needs to know at this tender
age. I love this book.
The Care and Keeping of You, A Body Book for Girls

What's Going on Down There? Answers to Questions Boys Find Hard to Ask is
another good book that offers simple answers and explanations to many issues
boys are curious about, but may be too proud to ask. It covers more
sophisticated topics, so I recommend that you read it over first.

In Your Jeans A Pocket Guide to Your Changing Body is book aimed at both
boys and girls. It offers accurrate, up-to-date information on all aspects
of puberty. This book builds on your child's existing base of knowledge and
helps reduce anxieties that come along with growing up.
In Your Jeans

The Boys Body Guide is similar to The Care and Keeping of You for Girls.
This book also offers simple advice that doesn't exploit the issue of
growing up. Important and non-salacious material offered in a very user
friendly manner.
The Boys Body Guide

Growing Up, It's a Girl Thing, Straight Talk About First Bras, First
Periods, and Your Changing Body is another book I recommend. This book
offers excellent advice about hygiene, feminine emergencies, and the care
and selection of a bra.
Growing Up, It's a Girl Thing

The What's Happening to My Body, Book For Boys is a more complex guide to
growing up. It offers accurrate information and doesn't leave too many
details out. The pictures are graphic and the information is very
explicit.
I suggest you read it first and use it as a resource guide.
The What's Happening To My Body Book For Boys

The What's Happening to My Body Book for Girls is the sister version of the
above mentioned book. Again, it offers accurrate information that is a bit
more sophisticated and it contains graphic pictures. I recommend that you
read it first and use it as a resource.
The What's Happening to My Body Book For Girls

I love this book! Just as practical as a Girls Guide to the Care and
Keeping of You, but made for boys. This book deals with everyday normal
issues such as diet, exercise, emotions, hygiene and friendships as well as
discussing the changes that take place during puberty. It's a very
informative, well written book.
