About The Teacher
This is my 23rd year teaching. I have taught 3rd,4th,5th,6th,and 9th grade. *Recipient of eleven East Brunswick Board of Education Recognition Awards *Recipient of the 2001-2002 Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award. * Featured in the Fall 2007 edition of "Garden State" magazine for being one of New Jersey's outstanding teachers. Did you know I love reading,dancing,shopping,and kickboxing? Family: husband and 3 children ( Arielle, Michelle, and Brandon ) 1 turtle... found him/her on our driveway...We named him Sushi five years ago! I eat too much chocolate...but I love it! *** November 2007 --Mrs.Gilman was included in Who's Who Among America's Teachers- Biography available at the E.B.Library---THANK YOU!!!! Mission
My goal is to discover their potential, strive on their strengths, and give them the opportunities they need in order to succeed. I want them to take what they have learned in my classroom and apply it to their lives outside of the classroom. Our classroom will be a risk-free environment which fosters creativity, self confidence, positive relationships and good citizenship. We will try hard to be respectful,responsibile, fair, and caring, but also to have a good time in fifth grade!!! You WILL treat everyone in this class with respect. I want to see you think,speak,and learn how to perceive different aspects of a problem or situation. Everyone's ideas are important and I want all of you to grow as a person and learn to stand on your own two feet. At times we will also split into group work and you won't be with your friends. I want to see each of you mature and learn to work toward common goals.
