When do I need to write in my journal?

Each night it is assigned.

How often do I need to read each night? What do I have to read?

I feel reading is important enough to be done each night. Read your
textbooks, a chapter book, a picture book, any nonfiction material (i.e.
newspapers, magazines), anything that you can read for no less than 20
minutes each night.

How do I help in Word Study

Each child has a personal list of five words. Help your child to memorize
the spelling of these words. There are also five weekly words that they need
to memorize the definitions of. Every Friday they will have an assessment.

What can I do to help my child with writing?

When your child writes a story, read it over with them and focus on one or
two mistakes. Explain what needs to be fixed, why it needs to be fixed and
what they can do to eliminate the mistake the next time they write.
Remember,
as much as we want to, do not rewrite their words. It is frustrating when
someone rewrites a story that we worked so hard to do. Just be a guide for
them.
