Dear Parents & Guardians:
Hello, my name is Mrs. Vicki Wilkins and I would like to take this
opportunity to introduce myself as your child’s math teacher as well as
familiarize you with some classroom routines. First, your child will be
given homework Monday through Thursday to be completed at home and handed in
to me the next day. Grading is as follows: check plus is equivalent to an
A, a check to a B, a check minus to a C, and no homework is a 0. You do not
need to supervise homework, as your child should be able to complete it by
him/herself. If your child has difficulty completing homework, a quick note
by you explaining the difficulty will be accepted and your child will have
the opportunity to review it with the class the next school day. Homework
should be reinforcing the concepts learned in class, not long and tedious.
Second, homework will only be accepted up to 2 days late and each day a
letter grade is deducted. After 3 days it will be counted as a 0.
Last, grading for your child includes homework, class work, quizzes, and
participation/cooperation. Such consideration gives your child a more
accurate and well-rounded grade in the subject.
If you have any questions, please call Chittick School at (732) 613-6830 or e-
mail me at: vwilkins@ebnet.org. You can even check my website at:

Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilkins

Dear Parents and Guardians:
Hello, my name is Mrs. Vicki Wilkins and I would like to take this
opportunity to introduce myself as your child’s reading and/or writing
teacher as well as familiarize you with some classroom routines. First, your
child will be given homework periodically throughout the week. Such
homework can include Word Wall Words and Vocabulary activities, completing
Reading Response Journal entries, Weekly Reading Logs, and Writer’s Notebook
entries.
Second, homework grading is as follows: a check plus is equivalent to an A,
a check to a B, a check minus to a C, and no homework is a 0. You do not
need to supervise homework, as your child should be able to complete it by
him/herself. If your child has difficulty completing homework, a quick note

the opportunity to review it with the class the next school day. Homework
should be reinforcing the concepts learned in class, not long and tedious.
Third, homework will only be accepted up to 2 days late and each day a letter
grade is deducted. After 3 days it will be counted as a 0.
Last, on some Fridays, word wall words, vocabulary words, and skills learned
in class will be quizzed. A study guide will be sent home the week of the
quiz so that you and your child are aware of the subject matter. Grading for
your child includes homework, classwork, quizzes, and
participation/cooperation. Such consideration gives your child a more
accurate and well-rounded grade in the subject.
