Reading Letter Example
Dear Ms. Colte, 9/09
Recently, I have been reading Poppy by Avi. Poppy and Ragweed are
two mice that are very close friends. As I was reading chapter one, I was
able to visualize Dimwood Forest as an enchanting woodland area where Poppy
and Ragweed spent most of their time together. Unfortunately, the dictator
of the forest, Mr. Ocax was searching for dinner that night. As Mr. Ocax was
exploring the forest, he came across two mice and was able to catch one as
his meal for that night. Once he ate Ragweed, he realized that he wanted to
eat Poppy as well.
At the end of chapter two when Poppy realizes what has happened to
her friend Ragweed, she becomes upset, frightened, and feels lonely. If I
was Poppy, I would feel scared and terrified as well. I would try to do
everything in my power to make it home safely. I really hope Poppy can make
it home before Mr. Ocax finds her. I wonder how long her journey will take.
I predict that Poppy will meet another animal in the forest. I
believe this animal will help her with her journey home to her family. I
think the two of them will devise a plan to outsmart Mr. Ocax! Poppy’s
family is definitely worried about her and I think some of her siblings are
going to begin to search for her. I am looking forward to reading the rest
of Poppy!
Sincerely,
Malorie
