Homework

First, your child will be given homework Monday through Thursday, in
the areas of Integrated Language Arts and Math, to be completed at home and
handed into me the following day. Such homework can include Weekly Word
activities, Reading logs, completing Reading Response
Journal entries, and various math assignments.
Weekly assignements will be given as followed:
1) Reading response logs are given out every Monday due back every Thursday,
and must be initialed by both
the student and a parent/guardian.
2) Math homework will be given nightly Monday through Thursday and a unit
assessment will be administered at the end of each unit
3) Science, Social Studies, and Health assignments will be given throughout
the week as well.
Second, homework grading is as follows: a check+ is equivalent to an
A, a check to a B, a check- to a C, and no homework is a zero. If your
child has difficulty completing a homework assignment, a quick note by you
explaining the difficulty will be accepted and your child will have the
opportunity to review it with the class the next school day. Homework
should be reinforcing the concepts learned in class, not long and tedious.
Third, homework will only be accepted up to 2 days late and each day a
letter grade is deducted. After 3 days it will be counted as a 0.
Last, grading for your child includes homework, class work, quizzes,
and participation/cooperation. Such consideration gives your child a more
accurate and well-rounded grade in the subject.

***Please inital and sign your child's agenda every night and make sure
their things are in their folders. This should alleviate any problems. I
hope!!***
