<div> Welcome Back!<br /><br />Our School Climate Committee has begun introducing this year's theme to students. The week of 10/3 is nationally recognized as Respect Week. We will be having a School Climate Assembly entitled "CHITTICK SPEAKS!" on Thursday, October 6th. The goal will be to introduce the School Theme and teach/demonstrate to our students the importance of SPEAKing up against Bullies. <br /><br />The students will participate in making a banner that will be displayed in our lobby to remind them of the theme all year. <br /><br />S - Students<br />P - Pledge<br />E - Everyday<br />A - Against<br />K - Kids Bullying<br />!<br /><br />We'll also be focusing on helping students to not be Bystanders in bullying situations but be DEFENDERS!<br /><br />Bystander - Anyone who joins in on bullying or does nothing to stop it.<br />Defender - Anyone who speaks up against a bully.<br /><br />WE are hoping to move all our students from Bystanders to DEFENDERS!<br /><br />In November we had an awesome anti-bullying assembly called "The Power of One!" Thanks so much to our PTA for providing it for the kids. It coordinated perfectly with our initiatives for the year.</div>
<div> <br />In January we will honor our first Defenders of the Month at our STAND UP assembly scheduled for 1/27!<br /><br />The students will sing along with some special staff members to the song STAND UP and also view and discuss a brand new episode of Charlie Chittick. Can't wait to see how Charlie handles a bullying situation....I hope he is a defender!</div><br /><div><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Comic Sans MS"> </span></div>
