What do I do if I'm absent?
Homework is listed on this webpage. When you return to school, you can
check the front board to see what the homework was and look in our class
ABSENT folder. And when in doubt, see me before or after class.
Can I hand homework in late?
IF you were absent from school, you will be given an extra day to complete
your missed assignments (including classwork & homework). For example, if
you miss 1-day of school, you will have 2-days to make-up all work. You
will receive credit as if you had turned the assignment in on-time.
IF you were NOT absent, you can hand your work in 1-day late to receive
partial credit, but after 1-day - the assignment will not be accepted.
As 8th graders, it's YOUR responsibility to keep up-to-date on your work.
Can I come for extra help after-school?
I am available Tues & Thurs after-school. If you need to meet with me on a
Mon or Wed, please provide me with advance notice.
All after-school help will be in room 309 unless otherwise stated from 2:15-3pm.
What if I didn't understand the homework?
You can reach me via e-mail until about 9pm each night and I will do my best
to help you with your questions. (I won't give you the answer, but I will
guide you in the right direction!) Your homework grade is given based on
trying, not on whether it is right or wrong.
Can I do extra credit?
I want you to do well on the assignments you are GIVEN and not rely on extra
credit to pull your grade up. You should think of your "Do Now" grades
as "extra credit". If you come into class, immediately start the Do
Now,
and make sure that you COMPLETE it - you will recieve full credit. This
should help boost your grade!!
What do I do if I missed a quiz/test?
If you were absent the day a quiz/test was given, you must see me to
reschedule a time to take the test. I will not "chase" after you to
make
the exam up, but I will remind you when you return to class that you missed
a test. Please keep in mind that you always have advanced notice, so you
should know when you're missing a quiz/test! If you do not see me to make-
up the quiz/test, it will eventually become a zero!

What are these "tickets" and "Bonus Bucks"?
Tickets can be earned each day by doing exactly what you are supposed to
do! This includes coming into class and beginning the Do Now immediately,
working quietly when instructed to do so, being polite & respectful to
others, and participating in class. Tickets can be earned through-out the
period and a drawing will be held each Friday for a "Bonus Buck".
These "Bonus Bucks" can be used towards homework passes and points on
quizzes or tests (but you must read the back of the "Bonus Buck" to
see how
they can be spent).
