What supplies do I need to be prepared for English? (Updated for 2009-2010)

The following is a list of supplies needed to be successful and prepared in
English class:

1. 3 ring binder (one just for English--not shared with other classes except
RW Workshop)
2.  pens(blue or black and a red for editing--no pencils)
3.  loose leaf paper (lots)
4.  dividers (3)
5.  2 highlighters (1 yellow, 1 pink)	
6.  1 pocketed, three hole punched, folder

 *The following items are helpful but not required.
       -small three hole punch*
       -small stapler*
       -reinforcements*

What supplies do I need for Reading/Writing Workshop? (Updated for 2009-2010)

The following is a list of supplies needed to be successful and prepared in
Reading/Writing Workshop:

1.  3 ring binder (may be shared with English)
2.  2 composition notebooks
3.  1 - 3 subject notebook
4.  pens(blue or black and a red for editing--no pencils)
5.  loose leaf paper 
6.  dividers (2)
7.  2 highlighters (1 yellow, 1 pink)

What is the homework policy?

Unlike last year, English class is only 42 minutes a day; therefore, on most
days, you will have homework.  

8th grade English Department Homework Policy:
~~If you do not have your homework on the day it is due, you will receive a 0.
 There is no partial credit given for late homework. 
~~If you miss 2 consecutive homework assignments or 3 in a marking period, a
phone call home will be made. 
~~For longer assignments, such as essays and projects, you will lose 10% every
day the assignment is late; after the 5th day, the assignment will not be
accepted.
