2. For Friday 9/11: Please bring 2 copies(handwritten on typed) of a 1-4 line 
quote, passage, or lyrics from a song that you feel best capture and 
represent your impressions and feelings toward 

9/10/09:

1. Finish reading "The Catcher in the Rye" excerpt for class tomorrow. Write 
down anything that you notice or that catches your attention (informally)

2. Independent Reading Day will be held on Friday, please bring your books!

9/15/09:

1. Revisit "Catcher" excerpt to be discussed tomorrow.
2. Be prepared with an I.R. book for Friday

9/16/09:

1. Meet in the media center tomorrow
2. Independent Reading Day kick off is on Friday, you know what to do.


9/17/09:

Independent Reading Day kick off is tomorrow, be prepared with your 
independent reading book.

9/18/09: Please read and annotate the excerpt that you received in class 
today. (For Monday)

9/21/09: Read and annotate Chapter 1 from "Dewey" for tomorrow. (Roxy's 
favorite!)

9/22/09: Read and annotate pages 13-16 (including 16) of "TMDG" for tomorrow.

9/23/09: Read pages 18-22 (including 22) of "TMDG" for class tomorrow.

9/24/09: Complete in-class writing for tomorrow

9/25/09: Enjoy your long weekend!


9/29/09: Due Friday 10/2:

Write a solid paragraph response where you make an argument about whether you 
think the ending to the short story version or the ending to the film version 
of "TMDG" is more appealing, and why? Be sure to include at least 1 quote 
from the short story to support your argument. (You may consider drawing from 
characteristics that we discussed in class about appealing endings when 
developing your argument).

9/30/09: 1. "TMDG" paragraph due on Friday 10/2
2. I.R. Day is Friday 10/2, please come prepared.

10/1/09:
1. "TMDG" Pager due tomorrow, see assignment sheet and rubric for 
requirements and expectations.

2. Independent Reading Day is tomorrow! Please come prepared.


10/2/09: Finish independent reading day project proposal to be collected

10/5/09: 

Read and annotate up to and including page 57 of "The Birds" for tomorrow

10/6/09: Read up to and including page 62 of "The Birds" for tomorrow.

10/7/09: 1. Read up to and including page 67 of "The Birds" for tomorrow.

2. Complete the indifference chart

10/8/09: 

1. Finish reading and annotating "The Birds" for class tomorrow.

1. Skim through "The Birds" to identify and record a quote that you feel best 
reflects the issue of the human interference with nature. (This will be 
collected for a homework grade)

sheet and rubric)

10/15 and 10/16:

The Birds v.s. "The Birds" paper due on Wednesday 10/21. (See assignment 
sheet and rubric)
-Start working on your short story body paragraph.

-Don't forget to keep up with your Independent Reading books!


10/19/09:

1. "The Birds" v.s. The Birds paper due date has been extended from Wednesday 
to Thursday 10/22. 

2. I.R. Day is Wednesday 10/21, please come prepared.


10/20/09:

1. Independent Reading Day is tomorrow, please come prepared.
2. "The Birds" v.s. The Birds paper due Thursday 10/22, see assignment sheet 
and rubric.

10/21/09: All classes: "The Birds" paper is due in class tomorrow. Please 
bring the typed paper, the rubric, and your film sheets to be stapled 
together.

10/21/09: Periods 4,8/9, and 12:

Examine the independent reading project options and model sheets. Begin 
brainstorming ideas for a project that you would like to complete for your 
1st quarter assignment.

Period 3: Bring your independent reading books to class tomorrow (since the 
assembly was in period 3 today).


10/22/09: None.


10/23/09:
Utilize the introductory paragraph notes and lesson in order to develop an 
introductory paragraph for an article on your favorite musician or band.


10/26/09:
Read up to the scene break on p. 15 of Bees for tomorrow.

10/27/09:

Finish reading and annotating Chapter 1 of Bees for tomorrow.

10/28/09:

Read up to and including p. 48 of Bees for tomorrow.

10/29/09:

1. Finish reading Chapter 2 for Monday
2. I.R. Day is tomorrow, bring your books
3.Organize your notebooks and have them in class tomorrow, hint, hint. ;)

10/30/09: Finish reading and annotating Chapter 2 of Bees for Monday (10/2)



11/02/09: Read Chapter 3 of Bees for tomorrow.

11/03/09: Read and annotate Chapter 4 of Bees for tomorrow.

11/04/09: Enjoy your long weekend.

Don't forget to work on your independent reading projects for Quarter 1 (they 
are due on Friday the 13th!)
