the Civil War?  We will outline this together in class.  It is a great 
question developed by Jaime that will help prepare you for the final. Those 
that contribute in class to the outline will receive extra credit.

If you're looking ahead to Wednesday's test, here is the take home part of 
the test.  It is not due until Thursday.  We will discuss this in class.

Write a letter to President (you pick a President from 1820's, 1830's or 
1840's) pertaining to slavery. Letter must include an explanation of 
slavery, the slavery situation in the nation and your views of slavery. You 
should also include what you think the national government should do about 
slavery. 

Follow the  format in the handout in your notebook "Let Your Voice Be 
Heard." Letters should include at least 5 of the following: reference to Eli 
Whitney, ending of the slave trade in 1808, characteristics of slavery,

prepare for the following questions:
Who are you?
Where did you record your account?  When?
Which side fired first?
What did you see?
What did you hear?

Be sure to complete Par. 4 to your outline.  Write a rough draft from your 
outline.  Staple Rough on top of outline.

We went over the outline and took questions and did examples on the board.  
The outline for paragraph 3 must be done tonight.  We will do Par. 4 in 
class tomorrow.  





Periods 3,4,5/6,12   (Period 9/10 is below)

After brainstorming and debating the Patriot-Loyalist issue, students 
developed their thesis statements.  These are on the bottom of the front of 
your handout.  The two main reasons you wrote for why you support the 
Patriots or Loyalists will be the topics of paragraphs 2-3 in your outline.  

Introduction was set up in class - remember to tell the story of the 
worsening British-colonial relationship after the French and Indian War.  
Use some of the suggested terms that we put on the board.  Remember your 
thesis goes at the end of your intro outline.

Then outline Paragraph 2.  Remember you must have 4 supporting details.  It 
is important that each supporting detail be explained fully.  See back of 
handout for descriptions.  

You need not outline paragraphs 3-4.  Bring in all your questions Thursday



Period 9/10
You must outline Paragraphs 1 and 2 for the Patriot Loyalist issue.  
Paragraph 1 was set up in class and the parts the class developed should 
have been copied.  Fill in the explanations using your text and notes.  You 
may also find it useful to look at your paragraph from several weeks ago on 
the Results of the French and Indian War.  Remember to put your thesis at 
the end of Paragraph 1.  This is your position(Patriot or Loyalist and the 
two main reasons you selected and wrote on the bottom of your handout).  

Then outline Paragraph 2.  This will cover your first main reason.  You must 
have 3 supporting details explained.  See back of handout for full 
explanations.

Bring all your questions to class on Thursday




Review chart and Chapter 4 Section 2(periods 3,4,5/6, 12)or Chapter 4 
Section 1(Period 9/10)

Be prepared to explain and discuss whether colonists should have been 
Patriots or Loyalists in 1775.  Nothing written is required for tomorrow 
although we will be addressing this question for a major grade in the 
future. 




October 12
Witnesses - complete the six follow up questions.
Judge and jurors - complete assignment explained in your handouts.  Be sure 
to follow directions.   
Journalists - email me your news stories to be posted on this site 
under "Newsflash."

October 11
Trial continues tomorrow.  Jurors have work tonight as do other roles!

Continue working on your role for the Trial of Captain Preston


October 8
Work on your role for the trial.  Journalists and Jury members do not have 
homework.  Witnesses should be practicing their testimony.  The judge should 
be going over his handout on the procedure.  Lawyers have their own 
assignments


October 5
Work on your role for the trial.
Witnesses - complete your questions.  These will be collected and graded on 
Monday.
Journalists - complete two news stories for 5 w's
Judge- complete one set of witness questions and read over transcript
Jury - no homework
Lawyers - have charts fully completed.  Have additional questions developed 
for witnesses(Period 9/10 does not have to do this yet)

Extra Credit work is due Monday




October 4
STudy for tomorrow's test and complete the test preparation work.  This will 
be collected  tomorrow.  

Trial work and extra credit on the Boston Massacre is due Monday for most 
students.


October 3
All classes
There will be a test and notebook check on Friday.  Table of Contents should 
be completed and pages organized.

Test preparation work should be completed for Friday



October 2
Period 9/10
Complete chart for the Townshend Act(text pages 108-109).  THis is the same 
chart that we have been filling out for the Writs of Assistance and the 
Stamp Act.
You may use pencil for this in case you need to make revisions tomorrow.
Test will be Friday.  We will review in class tomorrow.  There will also be 
a notebook check on Friday.  

Periods 3,4,5/6, 12
Answer on the same page as last night's homework.  Use your text
Compare the Stamp Act and the Townshend Act.  (2 similarities)
Contrast the Stamp Act and the Townshend Act.  (2 differences)

Test will be Friday.  We will review in class tomorrow.  There will also be 
a notebook check on Friday.

test yourself

Complete final draft and staple or clip on top of rough draft and outline.  
Must be written in pen or typed.


September 25
All classes
Write(pen)or type a paragraph from your outline on the "Results of the 
French and Indian War."

Develop a topic sentence that focuses your paragraph.  Explain 3 supporting 
details(these are your A,B,C from the outline).  Add a creative closing 
sentence.

REmember this is not summary.  It is a one paragraph description of the 
results of the war.  There should be plenty of facts and explanations.  Add 
statistics and find a historical quote to further improve your paragraph.

ruled the seas, and the British army commanded Europe and North America."

The Map of 1763 will be due Tuesday.  Be sure to have a key for both maps

Finish the outline that was begun for your particular class today. Be sure 
to include a closing statement. Remember you may modify the format that was 
on the board

All classes - Complete the North American Map 1754 that was assigned to your 
class.
If you didn't finish copying the Table of Contents from the board, please do 
so tomorrow.
