WEEK OF November 30 -- December 4, 2009


MONDAY--Finish reading Scene 3 (up to page 52).
        Add Mr. Dussel to your character list and describe.

   ...Be prepared for a reading check quiz.



TUESDAY---Read Scene 4--up to page 59.
          Post-it Note: What 3 things are important to know?
        In AF packet, complete Activity 2 & 3.  This involves vocab words 
important to the scenes we have been reading.



WEDNESDAY---Brainstorm for 'I AM' poem... skim through Act I...Scenes 1-4 & 
some of Scene 5. Use the index card I gave you class today to create a 'Word 
Collage' using words & phrases from ACT I that describe/relate to the 
character you selected for the poem. Write/or/Type 1/2 of the poem.



THURSDAY---Finish reading Scene 5, if we did not do so in class.  Write 3 
OUTCOME STATEMENTS (See Activity 5 in AF packet)  Be prepared for a 'Quest' 
on Act I Scenes 1-5.  Update play timeline (Activity 1).
Finish the rough draft of your 'I AM' poem and bring it to class. (Sloppy 
Copy is fine....)



FRIDAY---Final Copy of 'I AM" poem collected on Monday.
         Read from ANNE FRANK: THE DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL excerpt pgs. 129-
138 in back of play book.  Complete 'MY NOTES' about the selelction.

words.  Bring new words 
on flashcards for 1 point added to your test score.

All classes:  Read Scene 2 in AF p. 11-24.
Make a list of each character introduced in 
this scene. Write 2-3 short phrases next to 
each character’s name that describes the 
audience’s 1st impression. Leave space to 
add more details when we discuss in class.

TUESDAY--All classes except per. 5/6:
SAT Vocab Test tomorrow, #16-30 & random review words from List 1 words.

        Tomorrow your research project will be collected.
You need to assemble and staple together separately the following papers:
1.  'Clean' Final Copy & Works Cited page. HEARD BUT NOT TOUCHED w/ parent 
signature written on your final copy. 
2.  Original outlines for intro, 2 body paragrahs, & conclusion.
3.  Rough Draft.--the one you had last Wed. for peer evaluation AND the 
intro 
& 1st body  that I collected & graded.
4.  Noodletools BG, PRO & CON Notecards.

LAST SELF-CHECK--Go to CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES on my website.
Click & open "10 Ways to Improve Your Paper.



TUESDAY--Report directly to the library tomorrow.
         Bring independent reading book--if you have one selected.
Complete fill-in-the blank wkst. for SAT Vocab words #16-30.


WEDNESDAY--Complete mnemonic devices & personal connection sentences for 6 
of 
the SAT vocab words # 16-30.

      [2nd Qtr.Independent Reading book necessary by Monday Nov. 23.]


THURSDAY--Define Holocaust vocabulary words. Use dictionary.com or wikipedia.
          Fill in 1st & 2nd column of K-W-L chart.
          Read Scene 1 in Anne Frank pga. 5-9.
          On a post-it, write 3 things that are important to know.

Due Monday—You must bring your 2nd quarter 
Independent Reading book to class…
No book = zero.

Due Tuesday—Read Scene 2 in AF p. 11-24.

WEEK OF November 9 -- 13, 2009

[REMINDER--Spelling Test on List 3 words this Friday.....]

MONDAY--Revise & improve your intro and/or 1st body paragraphs.  (Don't 
procrastinate or you will regret it later...) 

        Complete outline for 2nd body and conclusion parts (on page 7 & 8 in 
your packet).  Bring them to class tomorrow.


TUESDAY--Print Works Cited page in your Noodlebib project. Bring it to class.

         Put your 2nd body outline sentences into one paragraph, and do the 
same thing for your conclusion outline.  (This means you will have 2 'clean' 
paragraphs.)
         Now, merge all 4 paragraphs of your research paper--intro, 1st 
body, 
2nd body, and conclusion--into 1 document. This is the ROUGH DRAFT for your 
FINAL COPY.

         As always, type--double-space--12 font--Times New Roman.
         Bring it to class...and be happy that you are almost done with your 
                                         research paper!


WEDNESDAY-- Study for Spelling Test on List 3 words Friday.
            Revise....improve....edit your rough draft.
            Final copy due Tuesday.

THURSDAY--Study for Spelling Test on List 3 words.

FRIDAY--Final copy of research paper due Tuesday.
        Revise....edit....improve your wording. 
        Read your 4 paragraphs to a parent. Obtain parent signature under 
HEARD BUT NOT TOUCHED at the end of your final copy conclusion paragraph.

WEEK OF November 2, 3 & 4, 2009

MONDAY--
        Get parent signature on Research calendar.

Handwrite or type page 9--the 1st body paragraph. This needs to be 
about the side that you are not supporting. For help--read page 1 & 2 in the 
packet; there you will see an example into and 1st body paragraph for the 
topic of year-round schooling.


TUESDAY--See calendar--Type, double-space, Times New Roman the 1st body 
paragraph.  Use the outline you created last night.  You need to merge 
together all the parts so that it looks like a paragraph. Remember to type 
your thesis sentence at the top--I need to see if it connects with your 
theis 
correctly.

        Get parent signature on Research calendar if you did not do so yet.


WEDNESDAY-- See calendar! (It is in an icon on my website desktop and in 
your 
English binder.)
            FYI--Students who turn in the Independent Reading project 1 day 
late will have their grade reduced by 1 1/2--so you start with an 85%.

            You SHOULD spend some time revising your intro paragraph and 
beginning your 2nd body paragraph outline [Pg. 8 in the packet].
