[REMINDER--Spelling Test on List 3 words this Friday.....]
MONDAY--Revise & improve your intro and/or 1st body paragraphs. (Don't
procrastinate or you will regret it later...)
Complete outline for 2nd body and conclusion parts (on page 7 & 8 in
your packet). Bring them to class tomorrow.
TUESDAY--Print Works Cited page in your Noodlebib project. Bring it to class.
Put your 2nd body outline sentences into one paragraph, and do the
same thing for your conclusion outline. (This means you will have 2 'clean'
paragraphs.)
Now, merge all 4 paragraphs of your research paper--intro, 1st body,
2nd body, and conclusion--into 1 document. This is the ROUGH DRAFT for your
FINAL COPY.
As always, type--double-space--12 font--Times New Roman.
Bring it to class...and be happy that you are almost done with your
research paper!
WEDNESDAY-- Study for Spelling Test on List 3 words Friday.
Revise....improve....edit your rough draft.
Final copy due Tuesday.
THURSDAY--Study for Spelling Test on List 3 words.
FRIDAY--Final copy of research paper due Tuesday.
Revise....edit....improve your wording.
Read your 4 paragraphs to a parent. Obtain parent signature under
HEARD BUT NOT TOUCHED at the end of your final copy conclusion paragraph.

MONDAY--
Get parent signature on Research calendar.
Handwrite or type page 9--the 1st body paragraph. This needs to be
about the side that you are not supporting. For help--read page 1 & 2 in the
packet; there you will see an example into and 1st body paragraph for the
topic of year-round schooling.
TUESDAY--See calendar--Type, double-space, Times New Roman the 1st body
paragraph. Use the outline you created last night. You need to merge
together all the parts so that it looks like a paragraph. Remember to type
your thesis sentence at the top--I need to see if it connects with your theis
correctly.
Get parent signature on Research calendar if you did not do so yet.
WEDNESDAY-- See calendar! (It is in an icon on my website desktop and in your
English binder.)
FYI--Students who turn in the Independent Reading project 1 day
late will have their grade reduced by 1 1/2--so you start with an 85%.
You SHOULD spend some time revising your intro paragraph and
beginning your 2nd body paragraph outline [Pg. 8 in the packet].

MONDAY--If you did not finish reading "Charles" and answer the 3 Reading
Check questions you
needed to finish it tonight and hand it in tomorrow.
TUESDAY---All classes who received their graded citations & notecards today
need to Check for Errors on the citations and begin 'fixing' the problems in
their notes, if I commented to do so...
As always--find time to read for pleasure--at least 10 minutes....
WEDNESDAY---Fix the problems in your notes on Noodletools, if I commented to
do so...

THURSDAY---'Perfect' your Thesis sentence--if you did not do so in class.
Handwrite or type a 'clean' copy of the THESIS SENTENCE
DEVELOPMENT that we worked on in class today--#1 - 5. I will collect this
tomorrow.
Do worksheet on 'Lead-ins'--on the back of the How to Develop your
Thesis Sentence.
FRIDAY---
1. Bring printed-out PRO & CON notecards from Noodletools to class. If you
lost the directions for printing, they are in the 'Controversial Issues" icon
on my desktop.
2. Hand-write or type the outline for the INTRO paragraph of your research
paper. It is the last page in the packet you rec'd in class today. This is
a 'sentence' outline.
3. After you do the outline, type (Times New Roman, 12 font, double spaced)
and merge the 4 parts of your intro paragraph so that each of the 4 parts are
now connected with no labels ( like Lead-in, etc...) Look at poge 1 in the
packet to see an example of an intro paragraph.
Note: If you have computer-printer problems, handwrite the paragraph--skip
lines--and bring in a note.

[Research Survey tally sheet, paragraph summary, and graphic due this Fri.
Oct. 23.]
MONDAY--Read for pleasure--15 minutes.
Work on conpleting the Tally sheet for the Research Survey Project.
TUESDAY--Memorize the 8 Parts of Speech and the definitions for 5 of them.
Get the Tally sheet finished for your research survey!!!
WEDNESDAY--Complete all Practice activities in the Parts of Speech packet.
Think!--don't just guess!
Survey Project due Friday.
THURSDAY--Survey Project collected tomorrow.
You need to have: completed tally sheet, double-spaced typed
paragraph, and a bar graph OR a graphic related to your question.
FRIDAY--Study for Parts of Speech Test Monday.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 13 - 16, 2009 (1/2 days...parent-teacher conferences)
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY--
1. Study #1-15 SAT Vocab words & definitions for a test, the next
time we meet. (Bring 15 flashcards for those words the day of the test & you
will score a Success Point.)
2. Bring your independent reading book to class the next time we meet
for classtime to read your book for pleasure.
3. The RESEARCH SURVEY PROJECT must be completed by next Friday--
Oct. 23rd.
THURSDAY & FRIDAY--
1. A total of 3 or more RR Journal entries need to be completed for your
IR book by Monday.
2. Read for pleasure 1 hour...(of course this does not have to be done
all at once....)
3. The RESEARCH SURVEY PROJECT must be completed by next Friday--
Oct. 23rd.

Attention students! I will be available after school--Tuesday, Wednesday,&
Thursday --this week to help you with your research project. I give you
permission to 'take advantage of me'! :D
[To my Period 3 students only: Come to class with an article about
your topic. I prefer it to be a database (like Ebsco or SIRS); see if you
can remember how to access the school databases from home. You do not have to
take notes from your article.]
MONDAY--Find a database source from Churchill Media Center for your topic.
Email it to yourself here at Churchill.
TUESDAY--Go to a different database and find another article about your
topic, and email it to yourself here at school (as an attachment).
Create a citation for the article you chose on Noodlebib. (This means you
will have a total of 2 sources printed in your Noodlebib account.) Take notes
on it--if you are feeling resourceful.
[Period 3 students only:
Create a citation (a bibcard) for the database article you sent to
yourself. Use a different database & find another article for your topic.
Email it to yourself at school. If you are feeling resourceful, create a
citation for the 2nd article you found, too.]
WEDNESDAY--For tomorrow, you need to have completed--
2 different database citations
1 book citation
2 notecards (like... 2 backgound or 2 Pro, or 1 BG and 1
Pro, or 2 Con, etc....)
(Quit making excuses and figure it out!!)
THURSDAY--For tomorrow, you need to have completed a total of 4 notecards.
Be sure to return your Churchill library book to the Media Center
tomorrow--our last day there...then, you could sign it out over the weekend,
if you still need it.
FRIDAY--Period 3--Due Tuesday, Oct. 13th: 3 citations & 9 notecards
(40 point assignment)
Per. 5/6,7/8,9/10,12: Due Wed, Oct. 14th: 3 citations & 9 notecards

Remember: If your notecards are poor (like n/e information, n/e facts, no
statistics, improperly filled out, not checked for 'easy' grammar errors,
incorrect notecard titles, not paraphrased, etc...), the rest of your project
will be very hard & frustrating. I will not feel sorry for you!!

TUESDAY--Finish fill-in-the blank and crossword puzzle for
SAT Vocab words #1-15.
WEDNESDAY--Write or type (DS) 10 personal connection sentences for 10 of the
new SAT vocabulary words. Make sure you use context clues for each word.
Underline or highlight the vocab word. This is a 4 point assignment.
THURSDAY--Read independently...enjoy the book you chose.
FRIDAY--Same as yesterday....Make sure you are completing your RR Journal
entries AS you read....
Bring your independent reading book to the library on Monday. You
will create a citation for it on Noodlebib.

MONDAY--Continue independent reading (at least 10 minutes).

TUESDAY--Write ( or type) your SFEC sentence outline for one of the topics
you were given. Bring it to class tomorrow.
WEDNESDAY--Make improvements to your SFEC outline so that your Final Copy is
one that you are proud of.
Final Copy of SFEC paragraph and completed outline collected
tomorrow. DOUBLE-SPACE TYPED, 12 font, Ariel or Times New Roman.(20 points)
THURSDAY--Study for Spelling Test on List 2 words.
Bring your independent reading book to class.
FRIDAY--Look at our research topics; PRE-search at least 3 topics that
interest you.
Complete the 10 questions on the Research Knowledge Quiz
Read for pleasure.... get at least 1/3 into your book! Write one (or
more)RR Journal Entry.

published quotation that has meaning for you personally. You need to explain
your feelings with personal examples or experiences. ONE sentence must begin
with a gerund or gerund phrase.
TUESDAY--Study for Spelling Test --List 1 words this Friday, the 18th.
Independent Reading book for 1st Quarter due by Friday.
WEDNESDAY--Report directly to the Library tomorrow.
Bring independent reading book--if you have one.
Start studying for Spelling Test on List 1 words (Friday)
THURSDAY--Spelling Test on List 1 words--go for the A+!!
Bring your independent reading book to class.
FRIDAY--Read your book--at least 1/2 hour.
Write or type 1 RR Journal entry.
