Announcements

February 19th. We wish to POSSIBLY offer choices for fitness day in the
future. Only those who respond to this query will get their choice. Please
email me using the link on this site to let me know your choice of the
following: jogging, agilities, step aerobics, or rope skipping. Jogging and
walking would be our normal fitness day. Agilities would include the dynamic
warm-up across the gym. Step aerobics may or may not include kick boxing,
etc. Lastly, rope skipping may be offered, but is our 4th choice and maybe
eliminated.

January 16th. See announcement of Nov. 1st below. We need to get better at
this. Grades are updated on Parent Connect. Remember, to see your grade, you
must be my student of record(on computer) and also, be in my class for
activity. The extra credit points that some have been accumulating are NOT
posted until the end of the marking period.

November 1st. Please make sure you remove your jewelry, including earrings,
before class. The nurses' office and PE department is especially concerned
about the removal of the large hoop earrings that are in style now.

October 30th. Lots of grading updates on Parent Connect.... Remember, this
affects students who have me as their activity teacher AND are on my original
roster(from September).

October 26th. Natural Helpers Survey.... The info. below is from the handout
that I gave you.

1) On the internet, enter the Churchill
website:(http://www.ebnet.org/Churchill/index.htm)

2)Look for the Natural Helpers Survey and click on it.

3)Complete Natural Helpers Survey. When you are done, click on submit. You
may only complete it once. This will be monitored.

4)The page that comes up after you click submit, you will print out to give to
your teacher.

October 25th. Repeater forms and physical forms for winter sports are due by
November 1st.

October 16th. Please do not leave class until dismissed by your teacher.
Too many students are leaving just because they see another class leaving.

October 15th. Those of you in 1st period fitness class today, will have
their walking pass carried over until next week, due to my absence.

October 10th. If you have one or more unprepareds, you will receive a
progress report to that effect.

October 10th. Regarding Back to School Night.... I will explain to your
parents/guardians about locker room security issues, excuse notes and medical
issues, and other things pertinent to our needs.

October 9th. Updates to effort, sportmanship, and coachability will not
reflect in Parent Connect until the end of the marking period. If you
received extra credit with the trivia questions, it will be added at the end
of the marking period.

October 3rd. Parent Connect updated!

News(2007-2008)
     Some myths about PE...
1. Physical Education is just for the athletes. FALSE. All students will
benefit from a carefully planned program that introduces them to lifetime
activities, fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and pride, and develops the
cardiovascular system, among other things.
2. We will "roll out the balls and play games." FALSE. The development of
athleticism and related byproducts is our most important goal, not playing
games.
3. If you are prepared and try your best, you'll get an "A" in Physical
Education. FALSE. While admirable and helpful, they are not a means to an
end with your grade. Meeting criteria for success with sports skills,
sportsmanship, and test scores, are among other factors that go into your
grade.
4. Physical Education is a study hall. FALSE. Other class responsibilites
need to be taken care of on their own time. Notify other teachers that Mr.
MacDougall said you cannot miss class to make up a home ec project, finish a
history presentation, etc.

(September 10th) Welcome back to all students! On Monday, we will start
our scheduling for your activities. This will take place over two days.
On Wednesday, we will start our fitness testing. Remember, the testing is
to establish a baseline score for your fitness level. It is for
informational purposes. It will provide a score upon which you will
hopefully improve throughout the year.

So, you have band/orchestra and you have a lesson. You grab a friend in
the hallway and say, "tell Mr. Mac I have an orchestra pull-out today."
Right? Wrong!!!! If you have a lesson for band/orchestra, you will
personally see me to let me know that you have the lesson. I will let you
go 99.9% of the time, with the notable exception being a test. Mr. Perez
and Mr. Barry have always been aware of my policy.

News(2006-2007)THE FOLLOWING ITEMS DO NO PERTAIN TO 2007-2008
Please bear in mind, if you use Parent Connect, that some of your grades
may change in the areas of Effort, Sportsmanship, and Coachability. What
you see listed now are your base grades in those areas. They may either go
up or down and will be finalized at the end of the marking period.

I will be in upstate New York from Saturday til Monday, visiting family
and the Baseball Hall of Fame. I will try and post extra credit on Sunday
since I will be bringing my laptop, but family obligations may preclude my
posting the question in a timely manner. Check back on Monday if there is no
question posted on Sunday. The answer will have to be sent to my school
email, which I will enable.

Period 6/7 only. By tomorrow, 3/29, for extra credit, please explain
the service with respect to where you serve with different scores. You may
diagram it or write it out.

It's that time again! Those of you who have unprepareds may make up a
maximum of two unprepareds. You may do this in either of the following two
ways....1) See me on a fitness day to get a yellow or red belt and jog for 15
minutes straight. This will rid you of one unprepared. 2) You may also
report at 7:00 for make-up time in the gym. This will begin on Monday,
March 26th and go through Thursday, March 29th. Please make sure you have a
note from home. You will be excused for 1st period at 7:20. This will
also rid you of one unprepared for each morning that you show up.

For a walking pass for Wednesday, March 21st, do the following..... Go
to the policies page and write down three valuables that should be locked in
your P.E. locker. Turn this in before your class and take a stroll, rather
than run.

     1st place Interactive Games
     2nd place Basketball
     3rd place Pickleball
Thank you to the 6(!!!) students who voted!!!! I was certainly hoping
for a larger turnout of voters. The percentage of voters is probably close
to
national elections :( I will do my best to find time for those that voted
for
Basketball and Pickleball to get those experiences again before the end of
the
marking period. Thank you again!

Period 8/9 Students!!! Please click on the email link at the upper
right hand corner of the home page and cast your vote for your next
activity.
Voting ends at 800 PM on Thursday night, March 15th, so that I can
announce to the class on Friday. PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO YOUR VOTE OR IT
WILL NOT BE COUNTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The new activity will start next week!
     Here are your choices
Basketball
Interactive Games
Volleyball
Pickleball
I would rather not do pickleball because of the numbers. We have 34
students scheduled on our lightest day and only room for 20 on a court. I
would rather not do volleyball, as well, since we just had the class. But,
it is your vote. Miss Brooks is scheduled for badminton and Mr. Lane is
scheduled in the sub-gym for fitness, so those activities are not available.

(March 2nd) I am in the process of sending out progress reports. If
you had an unprepared, I may send you a progress report.

Please answer the following questions for extra credit. Questions should be
turned in by Friday, February, 16th. Please put the answers on a sheet of
paper with your name and period at the top.
1. Activity grades are calculated every __________________ days.

2. Students who are unprepared may not________________________.

3. List two links listed from the links section.
