For Golfers!!!!!!!!!!!!! For Tuesday, October 10th. Wow, some of you folks are really starting to hit well. Keep thinking safety! I shared with you about rotating your top hand on the grip. This assures that the grip will pass the wrist and not "dig" into the wrist. This will also help you with the flexibility of your wrists working together as one unit. For Monday, October 9th. Sometimes, I'll tell you, "great swing," and the ball had dribbled three feet in front of you. There are so many things in a golf swing, that sometimes, you'll finally get a certain segment and your swing will be good, even if you don't hit the ball well. Don't be discouraged. Adjust your distance from the ball. Sometimes, I will see one of you missing the ball at the same ground location. If your posture is fine and consistent, then you need to reset your feet in a different location. For Thursday, October 5th. Three grips to remember -baseball grip -interlocking grip -overlapping Tip for head position Chin to front shoulder on backswing Chin to back shoulder on forward swing For Tuesday, October 3rd. We need to be more safety-conscious with respect to putting down clubs when told and NOT starting until told to do so. Still have some golfers who are trying to play with their hands separated. Some golfers are doing a GREAT job of taking their hands up to their shoulders on their follow-through. I demonstrated for the class, the initial takeway. I showed you how far you can take the club back without even moving the arms. For Friday, September 29th. Well, it was a little less wet out today, but the dew on the grass is a problem with the morning classes. You were let out a little later on Thursday. Let me know if you need more time at the end of the period. 1. SOME OF YOU ARE READY TO START A GOOD HIP TURN. NOT TURNING YOUR HIPS IS CALLED "LOCKING YOUR HIPS," AND IS INCORRECT. IN ALMOST ALL STRIKING ACTIVITIES, WE USE OUR HIPS AND LEGS TO STRIKE AN OBJECT. TO FACILITATE TURNING THE HIPS, ALLOW YOUR BACK FOOT TO TURN SO THAT THE TOE IS POINTING TOWARDS THE DESIRED DIRECTION OF FLIGHT. For Thursday, September 28th. I would like everyone to concentrate on the following: 1. FOLLOW THROUGH WITH YOUR HANDS UP TO YOUR SHOULDERS 2. Hands together.... You're not taking a slapshot! When you report to class, immediately drop off your book bag in the lockerroom and lock up your valuables. Report with your sneakers to the badminton closet. Girls, I have spoken with the women PE teachers and they know you will leave the lockeroom early. Once by the closet, golf clubs will be issued and you will report to our "golf course." DO NOT swing a golf club EVER until you are told to, once we are set up.
Or, would you like to view and optionally restore one of these previous versions?
