Choral Music Program Objectives:
Student members will learn the art of choral ensemble singing.
Our objective is not to learn about choral singing, but to develop
the knowledge and skill required for choral singing. Through daily
lessons in solfege, vocal technique, repertory analysis, music
literacy, and score interpretation, the student member will finally
demonstrate mastery of this rich genre.
Students in Semester Chorus and in Year Chorus will need the
following:

Focused Participation 40%
Technical Development 40%
Assignments/Quizzes 5%
Membership Requirements 10%
Membership Requirements: In addition to regular course requirements,
student members are expected to fulfill personal and social
requirements as well. Each member must demonstrate the following
qualities in order to receive full credit, and more importantly, to
attain personal and ensemble excellence.
1. Respect for self and others.
2. Solid and consistenteffort,initiative, and loyalty to the
ensemble.
3. Kindness - flat out
4. Joy in the successes of self, other individuals, and the group.
5. Willingness to provide "space" for each member to flourish in
her/his own way and time.
6. Refusal to label or judge others based on gender, religion, skin
color, ethnic background, sexual orientation, family background,
financial background, academic record, or personal appearance.
7. Willingness to support any person who is being labeled, judged,
bullied, or hurt in any way by seeking staff member intervention.
