                     HOMEWORK / TESTS & QUIZZES

This is a general outline of areas of study for the week of Monday, 
October 6 through Friday, October 10.

Each evening throughout the year, students should spend 10 minutes doing the 
following:

          10 minutes of math facts drill 
          10 minutes of Victory Drill / spelling words
          10 minutes reading the current book report book

For specific daily assignments, check your child's CCS Agenda and Homework 
Folder on a daily basis.  PLEASE LEAVE ALL WORK IN THE HOMEWORK FOLDER EACH 
NIGHT . . . AND IT WILL BE COLLECTED THE FOLLOWING MORNING.

Bible:   Unit 2 - The Mind of the Lord
            Part 2 - A Doubter's Mind  

                         
Scripture Mastery: Psalm 37:5
                                                                     
           REMEMBER . . . SCRIPTURE MASTERY TESTS ARE HELD ON MOST THURSDAYS.
           Students must be able to say the verse word-perfectly.  Students 
           must be able to explain what the verse means.  The goal of 
           Scripture memory is for your child to hide God's Word in his 
           heart so that he can use it in his life.

           We will begin Psalm 37:6 on Friday.

                    
Chapel:  Chapel Club


Language:  Chapter 1 SENTENCES & PERSONAL NARRATIVE

              REMEMBER . . . THERE IS A 10 QUESTION WEEKLY GRAMMAR QUIZ 
              ON MOST TUESDAYS.  (Study the "Rules" Boxes in the chapter.)
              Students must be sure to know the language vocabulary.  For
              example, if I ask the students to mark the verb, they must
              know what a verb is . . . I can't tell them during the quiz.
                                    
              This week's quiz will be on pages 38-49.
                                                                      
                   
Reading:    The Tree House - pages 62-69
                       
            REMEMBER . . . ON MOST MONDAYS THERE WILL BE A COMPREHENSION  
            ASSIGNMENT ON THE STORIES THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY READING.  The 
            first 10 Questions are multiple choice and are worth 8 points 
            each. The final two qustions are essay questions worth 10 points 
            each.  Answers to the two essay questions must be written in 
            COMPLETE SENTENCES and must contain the key words and phrases 
            used in the question.  Five points will be given for each 
            correct answer, and five points will be given for writing each 
            answer in a complete sentence as instructed.)

            We will begin CLANCY'S COAT on Thursday.

                        
Spelling & Vocabulary:  Lists 9 & 10
                                      
            REMEMBER . . . SPELLING TESTS TAKE PLACE ON MOST WEDNESDAYS.  
            
            Please note: When students write spelling sentences, every 
            sentence needs to begin with a different subject.   
 
            We will begin Lists 9 & 10 on Thursday.
                 
                                          
Math:   Chapter 3 - Subtracting Whole Numbers 

            Please be sure that your child allows you to check any 
            worksheets which will be graded before they have been handed in 
            to me.  HINT - Small graph paper may be used to help align 
            columns. 
        
Social Studies:  Unit 2 - Communities Have History
                   Part 1 - Early Communities in America

Extra credit opportunitites will be listed on the projects page of this 
website after mid-marking period.  All extra credit work must be handed in 
by the last Friday in the marking period.
