Dear Parents,
Last week we completed our science unit on plants and trees. This
week we will begin our first Social Studies unit: Our Community. As part of
our unit I would like to invite parents and/or special guests to come visit
our class to tell the children about their jobs or hobbies. If this is
something you or someone you know would be interested in doing please send
me a note telling me about the job or hobby and several possible dates and
times.
The elementary teachers are pleased with the improvement Victory
Drill has made in reading fluency and accuracy. We are starting a similar
program for testing math facts orally. We are hoping that this will improve
accuracy and speed in math at the elementary level. I am hoping to have my
program in operation by the beginning of next week. We will continue to have
our weekly written speed drills. The facts are getting more difficult and
more practice will be necessary at home in order to finish the drill in 2
minutes, so keep practicing!
