Book Fair: happy to see that it's so well received. [Side book fair discussion: Scholastic doesn't have a strong selection for 8th grade; thinking about looking into Barnes & Noble night for next year.] Gearing up for testing and spring break Budget q's-district is keeping in-house busing, more cost-effective. Student activity fees will be brought back next year; board still discussing how to structure-be it pay one flat fee or per activity. Preliminary budget passed, must be approved this Wed. Grades are due Fri 3/22, gave till Monday 3/24, report cards 3/28 Conflict with 8th grade dance date and Cherokee graduation on 6/14' dance date will be moved. 5. Teachers' Report--Mrs. Myers More thanks for the luncheon, bar set really high Spring sports rolling along, LAX, track 6. Committee Reports Book Fair: Criste Siedlarz chair. PTA purchased books to complete teacher wish lists. Librarian Mary Lynn Williams is making up a wish list. Next year looking at B&N instead of Scholastic. End of Year Party: Palona Wong chair. Funplex in Mt Laurel in May. $17 per student includes unlimited indoor/outdoor rides, pizza/hot dog and drink. No tokens. Whole facility--Go Karts, Laser Tag, bowling, simulator, 3D theatre, foam frenzy, mini golf, rides, no bumper boats or splashing speedway--no water No siblings PTA guarantees 120 students. President's Report--Linda House PTA Presidents' meeting report: Senior dessert program, April 16 Budget issues, already spoke about Morey's Pier Tickets: will not repeat fundraiser this year because of rule changes on amount we'd need to sell. DES hosting Coach bag bingo, May 3 $30 to purchase ahead, $35 at door, 12 Bingo sheets and desserts March 27, Wed, BOE meeting 8. Treasurer's report approved as read. Correspondence--none Principal's Report--Ms. Romanelli · DeMasi won the Kidsville News Day of Fun. We collected over 10,000 pens andpencils. Thank you to the Chen Family for their generous donation. · This year there will be two 8th Grade Graduations. Both Red and Green Halls will graduate on the same day but at different times. Graduation usually lasts 1 hour. · Planning additional 8th Grade Event that will take place on a Friday evening. 8th Graders will get to hang out at school with all their friends and have choice of different activities. Will need help from PTA. Teachers'Report--Ms. Myers · The Spring Sports Season starts in late February and early March. Spring Sports Physicals for Girls Softball due February 22, 2013. All Other Spring Sports Physicals due March 1, 2013. Check Daily Announcements on PTA website for Tryout Dates. · Finished measuring 8th Graders for their graduation gowns. Executive/CommitteeReports Book fair--(Criste Siedlarz not present, setting up for Family night) Family night is tonight. Book Fair is this week, Feb11-14, from 7am to 2:30pm. Students are allowed to stop by before and after school and during lunch hour. Snowball Dance--Carolyn Quigg THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped decorate, clean up, serve, and sent in snacks and water for the Snowball Dance. THANK YOU to Christine Pasquarello, Heather Hirshfield, Erin Borman, Jeff House, Beth Kromish, Tracy Frascarelli and Mike Frascarelli for designing and building the photobooth. Kids had a great time. End of Year Party--Palona Wong is the Chair. Will be at the Funplex this year. Students will get unlimited access to indoor and outdoor rides (excludes water boats and waterplay areas because they are still closed). DeMasi will have complex all to themselves. Includes choice of pizza or hot dog and their choice of drink. Looking at charging around $17/student. School Supply Kits- Carolyn Quigg Looking into upgrading some ofthe items from last year's school supply list. Many people felt some items didn't hold up well and would have liked a better quality item. Upgrading items will increase cost of kits. PTA members present at meeting felt that if an email was sent out explaining that items were being upgraded in kits parents would support increased price. The status of Clubs and Activities, Strategic Planning andTechnology initiatives, and bussing are important topic areas to be considered. Information about the preliminary 2013-2014 budget to be provided. · Important Parent Workshop on Social Media Issues being held on Tuesday, February 12 at Marlton Middle at 7:30pm. · 8thGraders: Cherokee Course SelectionSheets and 8th Grade Yearbook Ads are due by February 14th. · School Closed to students on Friday, Feb 15th for a Teacher In-Service and on Monday, Feb 18th for President's Day. · On Friday, March 1: o 6th Grade Dance from 2pm to 3:30pm, cost is $5 o 7th Grade vs Teachers Volleyball Tourney, 7pm to 9pm. Discussion on materials to use. BlackPVC pipe 10 feet, $15 per pipe, estimated around $250 for black PVC with black curtains. Black looks nicer but can use white PVC pipe and duct tape black tape around white pipes. Still need to borrow camera. Borrowing Erin Borman's printer. Made about $3500 all said and done, very good since 8th graders didn't get books to take home. BJs membership--Carolyn Quigg Sold 30 memberships, primarily new ones, six or seven renewals, $190 profit from that, $5 for every application. New district lunch calendar through www.schoolmenu.com or on Evesham Twp school site. New federal policy: students are required to take a fruit or vegetable, leading schools to compost to reduce trash 60 percent. Our school was mentioned as a model how to handle it, Mrs. Keegan gym teacher, allows kids to eat the healthy snack in her classroom. Yearbooks orders: after Halloween price goes up to $35, now $25. 8th-grade parents: Info about placing ads in the yearbook will come in a month. Purchase of ads and yearbook are separate. Winter sports physicals due Nov 7, must turn in to try out, tryouts start weeks of Nov 12 for winter sports.
