What a great year we are having.  So far we since the Holiday Concert Our Jazz Band performed at the Rowan University Jazz Festival.  They did an awesome job and I was very proud of them.  The Clinicians were very impressed and gave me many compliments for the group.

Then in March Our Concert Band performed at the Teen arts festival scoring a 4.5 our of a possible 5.0 score.  They also did an incredible Job.  They gave us some suggestions that we are working on for the Spring Concert in May.

April:  We had 10 students from Walnut Street School to play in the WBC Honor Band Concert.  There will be 3 rehearsals and I have arranged bus transportation to Maple Shade High School (this years host) but students will need to arrange there own Transportation home.  There is no Bus to the Concert itself.  The Students Selected were:  Josh Foremen, Hannah McGinley, Samantha Jalkowski, Matthew Orfe, Ryan Smith, Jeffery Durham,  Amelia Cherubini,  Shaina Egan Aldennys Avila, and Theodore Gauntt.

The WBC Honor Band Practice for Tuesday is now going to be from 4pm till 6:30.  The bus will leave school at 3:30 and students will need to have their own transportation home.  The Concert is Thursday at 7:00 pm.

May, There were 6 Students selected from our Band Program to participate in the All South Jersey Honor Band Concert at Absegami High School on May 5th.  These Students were chosen out of literally hundreds of Kids and it is a once in a life time opportunity that they had to earn.  These Students are Jodan Lewis, Matthew Adams, John Pfisterer, Austin Dasher, Lauren Lowther, and Kelsey Orem.  The Concert is at 2pm but the students will be rehearsing from 9-12:30 preparing.

Evidence continues to focus on the arts (music) as a vital component in the positive growth of every child. For years we have pointed to the music students as those who have demonstrated a special talent. However, based on extended studies we now know it is the very process of learning music that develops the artistic mind and brings forth the creative potential in all young people. For this reason, continued membership in our musical family is strongly encouraged. I work very closely with all of the teachers and if there is a problem we will work together to resolve it.
