Here are a few specific activities done in the Courtyard:
A bit about Edgar School Courtyard: Currently, the courtyard pond contains fish and turtles. There are bushes and birdfeeders in the courtyard that attract a variety of songbirds. Club members have spotted praying mantises, swallowtail caterpillars, several kinds of butterflies, and lots of birds. There is also a vegetable garden and strawberry patch maintained in the springtime.
Some other activities of the Club are: planting fall bulbs around the school, taking care of the planters in the front of the school, walking through in Edgar Woods observing the wildlife, holding the Pet Photo Contest, recycling & composting. In the past, we participated in activities for Arbor Day, including helping the Shade Tree Commission plant new trees on Edgar Field. Also for Earth Day, club members have helped clean up Edgar Woods. Last year, club members successfully completed information flyers about all the native shrubs growing in Edgar Courtyard. Following their research, members worked together to create binders of the plant species. One binder is now available near the Courtyard window in the Edgar Library.
