Dear Parents and Community Members,
The New Jersey School Performance Reports have been released and are available below. Frenchtown is very proud of our Academic Achievement as we received the "Very High Performance" rating which is the
highest category from the state. We significantly out performed our Peer Group (94%) and significantly out performed other schools across the state (82%). While we are pleased with the results, there is still much
work to be done. Looking ahead we will focus on the new and very challenging Common Core Curriculum
in Math and Language Arts, and we will also develop new units of instruction for writing.
Our Student Growth scores were also very good as we received a "very high" and a "high" rating. In
College and Career Readiness, we received low scores and I'd like to share why this occurred. The scores
for this area are determined by the percent of students enrolled in Algebra I. and the percent of students
who are chronically absent. The state Department of Education (DOE) is unable to give Frenchtown credit for our students enrolled in Algebra I. because our students take the class at Del Val High School - resulting in a 0% score. There is nothing wrong with the course, rather the DOE simply does not have a method for
capturing this data. I was told this glitch this will be fixed for next year. The other item that we actually do need need to improve is increasing our attendance. I will work closely families who have students who are "chronically absent" to improve this area for those students and our school. Sincerely, David Bailey Chief School Administrator Frenchtown School District 2011-12 NJ Performance Report for Frenchtown School District
