Middle School Science

Welcome To Middle School Science
Ms. Kress

Eighth Graders are completing our Fruit Fly Investigations. We will be creating a webpage on which to post their images and data.  Check back later to view. We are learning about cells and the organelles that work as a unit to keep the cell alive. We will create  animal and plant cells using Sketch-Up, Paint and Word programs .
In the next few lessons we will learn about cellular respiration, cellular division. Did you know that Mendel's research on pea plants formed the foundation of genetics, the scientific study of heredity? Which dominant alleles do you possess?

Seventh Graders
are studying Pascal's, Archimedes' and Bernoulli's Principles. Ask the seventh graders to give you an example or two on how Pascal's Principle is used in daily life.
In Social Studies, 7th graders are finishing the Original Colonies and are going into studying the Revolutionary period.  We are looking forward to sharing social studies projects - Colonial Trades and Crafts.  The students are making the products  "the old fashioned way", everything by hand.

Sixth Graders culminated their unit on "Earth-The Dynamic Planet" by creating presentations on the effects of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Each student chose a topic or event, researched information to inform our community on what to do if their topic occurred. In their presentation they had questions to answer, find an appropriate images, video, an interactive and cite and document all information. Next week we begin to link their presentations to a webpage. Please check back later to view.
