Frost School Media Center

September 2010

Dear Parents,

My name is Ms. Kelly Grimmett, and I will be your child’s school librarian.  I would like to welcome you and your child to our library / media center.  Your child will be coming to the media center every week.  Please encourage your child to take out and read the fine books found in our collection.

Each student has a library card, which is kept in the media center. They will use this card to check out their books each week:

  • Students in Preschool are allowed to check out one book per two weeks.
  • Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade are allowed to check out one book per week.
  • Students in 2nd grade may take two books for two weeks.
  • Students in grades 3-5 make take two books or two magazines OR one book and one magazine for two weeks.

Every student may renew his or her book for one more borrowing period, unless someone has put it on reserve. There are no fines for overdue books, although students with overdue material cannot take out books until the overdue item is returned.  Fines are only issued if the item is lost or damaged.

Our media center has a variety of automated resources and our computer lab is situated next door. Your child will have many opportunities to use technology throughout the year.  Grades 3-5 will be issued a login and will create their own passwords.  Each student must sign an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) card in order to use lab resources.  This card is kept on file in the lab.

Please check the Media Center Rules of Respect that is designed to promote a positive learning environment.  Please review these rules with your child.  These rules will also be reviewed in class, as well as, the procedures for checking out library materials.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone 732-613-6855 or email kgrimmett@ebnet.org.

                                                                   Sincerely,

                                                                   Ms. Kelly Grimmett, MLIS
