Monday October 26, 2009
MATH: This week we will continue to work with the multiplication and
division facts. Everyone should be practicing these facts at home.
You should know the answer to a fact in 3 to 5 seconds.
You can practice by going to my links page and scrolling
down to FunBrain and playing multiplication baseball.
You can also play Uno by using addition, subtraction, multiplication
and division skills. We will be having a multiplication facts
quiz sometime this week.
For homework tonight:

We will be playing a number of math games to reinforce the
facts. I will also be quizzing everyone on the facts.(Hint, Hint)
We have already completed two Mad Minutes. (30 problems in
one minute). Please practice your facts at home.
If you go to my links page and click on FunBrain you can play
multiplication baseball to practice the facts. You can also
play the game Uno using the multiplication facts. For example:
the card is a red 6. You don't have any red cards, wilds, or a
6 of another color. You don't want to have to draw cards. If
you can make six using multiplication you can do this during the game.
For example: Your cards are a 3,2,1,7,0,8 and 4. You can put down
the 3, 2, 1, and 0. 3 times 2 equals 6 times 1 equals 6 plus 0
equals six. You just put down 4 cards instead of one card.
Homework for tonight:
1. Unit 2 test on Friday.
2. Study Link page 45. Also from your journal cut-out fact triangles
found on Activity sheets 1-4. Put your initials on them.
Place them in the envelope. We need them in class tomorrow.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 9, 2009
Welcome to the first day of school for the 2009-2010 school year.
This year you can check my web-site for homework assignments, long range
assignments such as tests, quizes and projects. Please also check out my
other topics on the homepage.
Today students received their home to school folder. This will be used for
the many handouts, notices and other important papers.
Please take a moment to review these with your child.
Students also received a handout detailing the materials they will
need for my classes. (Please ask your child to share this with you.)
My homeroom (Room 26) also received their homework planners today. We will
use them on a daily basis. Please check your child's planner daily.
Your child has me for Math, Science, and Social Studies. We are color
coordinated. Green for math, purple for science and red for social studies.
Your child will need a purple spiral and a red spiral. They will also need a
red, green and purple 2-pocket folder for my classes.
Tomorrow students will be receiving their math materials and social studies
textbook. This will include a Student Reference Book (must be covered), Math
Journal and Study Links book. The social studies textbook must also be
covered.
The fourth grade teaching team has asked each student to get
a canvas totebag to help your child carry their books and materials from
class to class. We showed a few examples to everyone this afternoon.
Please check my announcement page.
Once again, Welcome to 4th Grade!
