Here is a copy of the class letter in order to remind you of the special
activities we will be working on during the first few days of school.
August, 2008
Dear Second Grader,
Welcome to second grade! My name is Mrs. Kowal. I will be your
teacher this year. Our classroom is room 11.
We will be learning many new things and we’ll have a great deal of
fun together. I am looking forward to sharing this adventure in learning
with you during your year in second grade!
Please bring all the things listed on the supply notice on the first
day of school, and please make sure each item has your name labeled on it.
In order to make sure that this is a **SUPERSTAR** year for you, we
will be highlighting our goals for second grade. On the star enclosed,
please write three hopes and wishes that you have for second grade. I am
also asking that your parents write three hopes and wishes for you during
your second grade year on the tail of the “shooting star”.
In addition kindly help us to celebrate your unique qualities by
bringing in a paper bag containing something that makes you special. By
sharing your special item with your new friends and classmates, you will
help us all to get to know you better. Last of all please bring in a
picture of yourself so that we may use it in a special project.
I can’t wait to meet you on our first day of school. It is going to
be an exciting and busy year in our classroom. Enjoy the rest of your
summer and I’ll see you soon!
