Objectives:
VISUALIZE: Make a movie in your head.
QUESTION: Ask yourself who, what, when, where, and why.
CLARIFY: Not sure about a word? Reread the words you just read. Look at 
the pictures. CLARIFY new words.
PREDICT: Ask yourself "What will happen next?"
CONNECT: Text to Self - Connect a book to a personal 
event or feeling. Text to Text - Connect 2 books together. 
Text to World - Connect a book to an outside event not directly connected to 
you.
REACT: "This book makes me feel_________!"
SUMMARIZE: State the most important things about the text.
Understand that a story has a beginning, middle, and end
Identify the sound of SHORT A (apple, bat, ran, ham)
Identify the sound of SHORT E (red, jelly, jet, pen)
Identify the sound of SHORT I (wig, pin, tip, kit)
Identify the sound of SHORT O (mop, lot, pop)
Identify the sound of SHORT U (bug, mud, run)
Use a "magic" e to change a short vowel word into a long vowel word 
(rid -> ride) 


EVERYDAY MATH:
Unit 5
To investigate place-value concepts for tens and ones
To explore addition of 2 digit numbers
To make up and solve a variety of number stories
To introduce "What's My Rule?" routine
