We are excited to announce that "The Peer Buddy Club" is extending
opportunities to join to the entire Hammarskjold community. This pilot
began last year and the kids had a wonderful time interacting and forming
friendships. The club is underway now that we have settled into our new
surroundings. The purpose of this club is to help special needs and general
education students develop friendships through different structured social
activities. This club is a combined effort between SEPTA and Hammarskjold.
The two entities have workedsuccessfully on many inclusion efforts,
volunteerism, clubs, and through the excellence committee. We hope you will
take advantage of this opportunity to help us integrate our children
successfully. It is only with the combined help of families. teachers and
administration that we can help these kinds of programs to succeed. On
behalf of SEPTA, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr.
Gaskell, Hammarskjold Principal, and teachers Mr.Swayze, Mrs. Katzen and
Mrs. Amendola for their time and effort in planning this program and helping
our children develop socially . We encourage you to utilize this wonderful
opportunity for your children. Please see Mr.Gaskell's letter under FORMS
for more information regarding The Peer Buddy Group. Thank you.

SEPTA continues to look for shadows for the future. We will need to have
shadows in place for the 2009-2010 school year to actively take over for
2010-2011. We will continue to remain active through 2011-2012 and remain
attending meeting members to secure continuity during 2012-2013, which is
Diana's senior year in high school. We hope that you all, especially those
with younger children and already active will consider this role. We are in
immediate need of a second treasurer and fundraiser, as we already know that
they will be empty after this year. We hope to get someone to shadow and
fill hese two slots immediately. Please let those you think might be
interested know. In the blink of an eye, the years fly by!
