NEW INCLUSION SUMMER PROGRAM FOR GRADES 6-9

ROBOTICS
>
> Journey into the exciting world of robots with some new friends.
> Begin with Bee-Bot and develop basic programming skills and
> the vocabulary to match. Then send him through simple mazes
> that you and your team create. Finally send a computerized
> version of Bee-Bot on computer missions.

> Next you will spend some time with Pro-Bot. His advanced functions include
100 step programming, commands that appear on a LCD screen and bumper
sensors to ensure safer navigation. He even has a built in pen up/down
mechanism that will allow you to program him to create art!

> Finally we will work with Roamer. His advanced keypad
> will allow us to program with pinpoint accuracy. Roamer
> can travel in any direction; turn in both small and large
> increments and even create music!

> Once we are comfortable with these programming techniques we will break
into teams and have a robot challenges. We will construct overpasses,
garages and other obstacles for our robot friends and see who can meet the
challenges of our programming!

A decision was made to offer the half day camp program to both Summer
Academy and ESY; therefore the only different week is July 14-18
With 'Acting Camp' for students going into third-sixth graders (special
needs) from 2:00 to 4:00. Youth Stages founder, Jean Prall Rosolino, will
lead the children in creative drama warm-ups and theatre games that develop
a story into a play. Monday and Tuesday the participants will explore and
devise characters and plot. Wednesday and Thursday will be spent creating
simple props, costumes, and rehearsing. Family and friends are invited to a
sharing of the original play on Friday. Those who have signed-up for summer
camp during this week (going into grades (3-6) will automatically be
included in the 'Acting Camp'. Those who do not want to attend any of the
other camp days, but want to attend only the acting camp the cost is $175.00
