FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
If my child is absent from school, how can he get his makeup work? If a student is absent from school they must check their class mailbox for any missed homework, classwork, notes, tests etc. If a student chooses not to complete the missed assignments they will get a zero for every missed assignment. Can my child earn extra credit to bring up his/her grades? All students have an opportunity for extra credit to bring up their grades. All class work is seen as an opportunity for extra credit. When a student receives a low project or test grade, their class work is used as an opportunity to help boost their grade. However the student may need to take the initiative to see the teacher in order to use the class work as extra credit. However all students must exhibit knowledge of an assignment in order to pass a class. Will too many absences affect my childs grades? Yes! If a student is not in school they are not learning. If a student is not learning then they will not be able to effectively participate in class on any level. Are school supplies important? A child who is prepared for school is a child who has his supplies on a daily basis. Students need to come to school with all of their school supplies every day. Students who are not prepared will get a demerit. If I need to talk to you (Ms. Harvey), how can I reach you? I can reached through this website via email or by telephone. My schedule can be view online also. A good time to speak to me would be during my prep times. Otherwise you can drop me an email and I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. If I forget to sign my childs work will he receive full credit? No! It is the parent and childs responsibility to make sure that all work is handed in on time. There are students who constantly turn in their work and receive full credit because they are being responsible for their work. Although I understand mistakes happen that does not change the policy for my class. So basically if the homework is not in when its due and its not signed then they will lose credit for that homework. If this is consistently happening a letter will be sent home and a phone call will follow. I like to promote responsibility and taking responsibility for your actions with my students. Requiring them to bring in homework signed on a daily basis will help them to be successful and organized in life. |
