I was born and raised in New Jersey. Upon receiving my B.A. in political
science from Barnard College, Columbia University, I decided to join Teach
For America and teach sixth/seventh grade at Bragaw Avenue School here in
Newark, NJ. As a classroom teacher, I emphasized inquiry-based learning and
hands-on approach in all curricula through the development of innovative,
standards-based lessons. After three years in the classroom and desiring
additional knowledge in the field of school leadership, I returned to school
to receive my Masters of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of
Education. Entering my 5th year at GNCS,I am thrilled to work with such a
dedicated and motivated staff and teach students who want to work as hard as
me. During my free time, I enjoy such activities as taking hikes with my
dog, drawing, knitting, cooking, reading, travelling, and hopefully,
sailing - I am still a beginner :)
I am anticipating an educationally eventful year and look forward to working
with each and every one of my students to expect greatness in his/her work
and attitude. Regardless of how skilled you are in math, you will be
challenged to think outside the box and be motivated to be an active
learner. You will be expected to not only want to do well and perform at
levels that you thought you were never capable of, but to also be motivated
to put yourself out there and question what you are learning. Welcome and
be ready to work like you have never done before!
