Dear parents and new sixth graders,
I am very excited to be beginning a new school year with you. Right now our web site does not
have a lot of information but trust me it will quickly become filled with everything you need to
be successful in ILA this year. Last year the web site was visited over 4,000 times between
January and June. Each week I will post your homework for the week on Sunday evenings; all
handouts that we use in class will be posted. In addition, each marking period you can find all
your reading responses and writing prompts located on this web site. The web site is just one
way you can stay on top of your work in ILA. I suggest that you add your e-mail to the Keep me
Updated link. After I update homework on Sunday evenings, you will receive a notice in your e-
mail the homework is ready for viewing. You can print a hard copy to keep at home. The great
thing is everything you need will be on the web site, so there is no more worries of "I left it
in my locker, or I forgot to write it down in my agenda."
In addition to homework and handouts, there are also links to our scholastic orders. Each month
you have the choice of ordering books for reading either online through scholastic or the
traditional order form and sending in a check. There is also a section of links to other web
sites that may help you throughout the year with spelling, grammar, research, and vocabulary
games.
Over the summer I am working on adding a blog spot on our web site where our class members can
post book reviews, discuss books they have read and post their writing for others to read. I am
very excited about using technology to develop stronger literacy skills.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and come ready to learn, read, and write.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Clark
