Reader’s Workshop is designed to model to students a specific concept or
skill
that they will then practice and apply to their own independent reading.
During Reader’s Workshop, students will be engaged in shared readings of
high
interest that exemplify lesson objectives. They will contribute to
whole-class, small group, and partnership discussions to better understand
strategies used and concepts presented in short stories and books. In
addition to sharing about what they're reading, they'll perform individual
tasks to guide their learning. Daily opportunities will also be given to
practice identifying a strategy or concept independently and at which time,
the students will engage in student/teacher conferences for assessment and
any
necessary, additional teaching. Below are resources
that help to supplement and manage Reader's Workshop.
