Writer’s Workshop is also designed to model different types of writing genres
that require specific structure and skills. Like the Reader’s Workshop,
students will be shown models of writing that demonstrate a specific technique
that is practiced within that particular type of writing. The students will
then practice, and apply it to their independent writing. During this
application is when the teacher will meet with students individually or in
small groups to refine their learning. Students are given opportunities to
share their work with partners for peer assessment and will work towards
developing final products that are named their "published" pieces.
