Remember, each entry should answer one of the questions or utilize a reading strategy introduced in class (use your class handouts that you have: response ideas sheet and reading strategies list). It is a good idea to take notes on post-its as you read to help you write your entries. To complete your Reading Portfolio, you must follow these simple directions… 1. Read 5 nights per week for 30 minutes. (at least 20 pages) Log your pages on the record sheet by recording the page you end on. 2. Reading everyday for 30 minutes (at least 20 pages), you should finish a minimum of one book per month. 3. Make an entry in your Reader’s Notebook (marble) at least once a week. Entries need to be at least 1 page long. 1x per week = C (75%) 2x per week = B (85%) 4x per week = A (95%) 4. Entries must be made after reading at least 20 pages. Don’t stop reading after 20 pages unless that is a logical place to stop in the story. 5. Only one entry may be made per day. Writing 4 entries in one day is not A work! 6. Vary your type of entry by answering the suggested questions. Do not write a summary of what you have read. Your opinion of what you’ve read is much more interesting. 7. Portfolios will be graded once per month for frequency and content. The grade will be equivalent to a test grade. 8. Add the title, author, and other information to your BOOKS READ listyou’re your SOMEDAY list.
