Homework for Wednesday November 11, 2009:

Read for 30 minutes

that took place in the story. (Example: In the story "To Starch a Spook" an
event that happened was the Mr. Gerber did not pay Sue for getting the ghosts

Explain how you know that character is the antagonist. (Example: In the

Read for 30 minutes
Reading Journal page 21
Write down an example of external conflict in your book. Write down what type
of external conflict it is (character vs. character, character vs. nature,
character vs. society). Then explain how you know it is that type of
conflict. (Example: An external conflict in my book is when Mr. Gerber does
not pay Sue for the work that she did. This is an example of a character vs.
character conflict. The conflict is between two people that have different
ideas. Sue is trying to get paid for what she did while Mr. Gerber is not
paying her and says that she did nothing.)

2) things you learned about a character from their thoughts and feelings.
Write down what the character's thoughts and feelings were. (Example: The
main character thought "I'll never be President, I thought, just the Vice
President. I won't be a gangster kingpin, just his stooge. I won't be the
sole survivor in any humongous disaster, just another victim along with all
the other losers. believe it or not, I hate feeling sorry for myself. It
makes me feel like an idiot, which makes me feel even sorrier for myself."
From these thoughts I can tell the main character has a low self esteem.) DO
