Welcome to Hammarskjold Middle School! My name is Miss Latham, and I
will be your 6th grade math teacher. Starting middle school is one of the
biggest transitions you will ever encounter and I am excited to help you
adjust to changing classes, using lockers, meeting new friends, and this new
beautiful building! While gaining the responsibilities of a middle school
student, we will be exploring new topics and learning many new things in math
class. With a positive attitude and some effort everyone can learn math! I
hope to challenge you to become critical thinkers who extend the problem
solving skills we use in class to your everyday life.
I want you to experience success and gain self confidence while
exploring math. I expect you to respect the teachers, students, and materials
in our learning community. Always try your best, come to class prepared, and
ask if you need help. If you are up for a challenge, I have plenty of extra
activities and puzzles for you to try. Also, I am available Wednesdays after
school if you need extra help.
Communication is essential to a great year. Parents, please check
your child’s agenda daily for assignments and notes from teachers. Also,
check my website regularly for announcements, homework, important dates, and
other information about our class. Please feel free to contact me with any
questions or concerns. Together, I know we can make this a great year! I look
